Yoga Equipment

Traditional yoga related music is being primed up for the dance floor with a collaboration between house music DJ and producer Tom Glide and New York City singer and writer, Ekayani.  The resulting work is adapted from The Sri Isopanishad, Bhagavata Purana, Vaisnava songs, and the Bhagavad Gita.

This is a welcome development and can be used to steer away from New Age music to spice things up on the mat while doing yoga.

The CD collection of ten songs comes with an extra treat: The directors cut of Here’s The Light video in a QuickTime file by Roberto Serine (Kanye West), featuring the exotic chanteuse Ekayani, and shot entirely in the East Village of New York City. The album is available immediately for digital download on BeatsDigital.com.

This is not the first time that traditional work has been used as the basis for dance beats.  However, it should be noted that the development is significant in that the source work is included in the music in english.  Also, the music is not meant not only for the dance floor but also for the yoga enthusiast and practitioner.

Yoga on the Dance Floor and Sanskrit Mantras will be premiered on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 on The English Breakfast Radio and Television show in Amsterdam, NL.  The broadcast will be from the Pakhuis de Zweiger, the show airs on 99.4 FM and 104.6 Cable between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.  Immediately after, the duo of Tom Glide and Ekayani will be attending the Amsterdam Dance Event, the largest conference and party of its kind designed specifically for house music and is now in its thirteenth year.
